Knotted Headwrap

I am in love with knit Headwraps.  They are my new obsession!!!!  I'm trying to grow out my hair, that means not using my blowdryer and flat iron as much.  These headwraps help hide my greasy roots and give me a ton of styling options!  They are also great for babies as they are so soft.  My girls also love them.  Really I can't think of anything bad to say.  Now that I have talked these babies up lets get to how to make them yourself.  They are so quick and easy to make.

You don't need very much fabric to make these darling headwraps.
1/4 yard of knit will make 2 headwraps.
I have also used leggings that my daughter has outgrown.

Cutting Instructions
Newborn cut 1  12 1/2" x 4 1/2"
cut 2  3" x 6"

size 3-6 month cut 1  13 1/2" x 4 1/2"
cut 2  3" x 6"

size 6-12 month cut 1  15 1/2" x 4 3/4"
cut 2   3 1/2" x 7"

size 12-18 months cut 1  16 1/2" x 5 1/2"
cut 2  3 1/2" x 7"

size 18-24 months cut 1  17 1/2" x 5 1/2"
cut 2  3 1/2" x 7"

size 3-7 years  cut 1 18 1/2" x 5 3/4"
cut 2  4" x 8"

size 8-12 years cut 1  19 1/2" x 6 1/2"
cut 2  4" x 8"

size 12 and up  cut 1  20 1/2" x 7 1/2"
cut 2  4" x 8"

With the 2 smaller pieces fold in half right sides together.

Fold in half again and pin.

Cut a curved shape as shown below. Make sure not to cut off the folded edges.

Now that everything is cut out lets start sewing!

Fold the long band piece in half lengthwise with the right sides together.  Using a large zigzag stitch sew along the long raw edge.

Turn right side out and lay flat so the seam is down the center.

Fold in half with the seam facing out.

Stitch together along the short end.  Set aside.

Place the 2 bow pieces right sides together.

Stitch all the way around leaving a 1" opening in the middle on one side.  Clip ends making sure not to cut your stitching.

Turn right side out and push out corners.

Place bow on the back side of the band.

Tie the bow over the seam in the band and pull tight.  There you have it!  Easy peasy!  Now go make hundreds of them:0)

Stay tuned in the next couple weeks I will be posting about all the different ways you can wear these cute headwraps. WooHoo!

Patterns, patterns, and more patterns...

I promise more free patterns are coming soon!

Lauralee is even working on some charity patterns for the boys! We just need to get our kiddos back in school, clean our houses, go out to lunch to clear our minds, then we'll get on it! Starting next week - we mostly promise (if all goes as planned) to have some new patterns up!  In the meantime I just released this darling skirt as a new PDF pattern in my SHOP. It's adapted from the Greta Dress but goes from sizes 6Y to 16Y! I'm loving it made up in Floriography!!!

Kate's Ruffle Bag...Free Charity Pattern

We are so excited to release this FREE bag pattern for our little Charity...

This is made from my new fabric collection Floriography

LOVE

I'll be making a couple bags this week for two girls in my neighborhood who were injured this last month. One in a bike accident and another in a serious car accident. I'm going to fill them with little goodies to cheer them up!  This bag is so easy to make and can be done in a couple of hours!

You can share this pattern, have a bag making party with your sewing friends, and make as many as you want! Send them to us and we'll safely store them for when a need arises! For examples of where some of our past charity patterns that you have made have gone, click HERE.

You can also submit a request to have our charity patterns sent to your area if there is a need. What a great gift to cheer up sick children in a hospital, foster kids who are going to new homes, or just someone who's in need.  Requests can be send to ruthiebemaude@gmail.com.

Please put Charity Request in the Subject box.

Here's a sneak peek of what's up next!

So without further ado....Here is Kate's Ruffle Bag!

#loveforclara

So sorry about the delay in Floriography tutorial posts! We got a little side tracked, but for a good cause! Our friend, fabric and pattern designer Sandi Henderson of Portabellopixie just had a sweet baby girl in May she named Clara. Just 2 days after she was born Clara had open heart surgery. Sandi, her husband Dustin, and baby Clara are in Seattle Washington at a special hospital recovering, while their family awaits for their return to Missoula Montana.

Please take a moment to visit the special blog we have set up for a fabulous fundraiser/giveaway!

Several designers have come together to create an amazing giveaway.
Patterns, fabric, books, quilts, clothes, kits, jewelry and more will be given away!

Every dollar you donate will get your name in a drawing to win the donated items!  Every dollar counts. Thanks!
